The financial assistance was directly credited to the bank accounts of beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the distribution process.
The scheme provides tiered monthly financial support based on educational levels:
- Students in Classes 1 to 8 receive Rs 500 per month
- Those in Classes 9 and 10 are eligible for Rs 700 per month
- Students in Classes 11 and 12 receive Rs 1,000 per month
- Undergraduate students get Rs 3,000 per month
- Students pursuing technical and professional courses including ITI, polytechnic, engineering, medical, and MBA programmes can receive up to Rs 10,000 per month
First Anniversary Celebrations and Additional Initiatives
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who took oath along with her Council of Ministers on February 20 last year, highlighted that the BJP government has been launching various welfare initiatives and development projects to commemorate its first anniversary in office.
"Our government has introduced several initiatives focused on worker welfare and social support," Gupta stated during her address. "These include 'Palna' - creche facilities for children of working women, and Atal Canteen that provides nutritious meals at just Rs 5 per person."
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Delhi government was the first to adopt the four Labour Codes implemented by the Central government, demonstrating its commitment to safeguarding workers' interests. She revealed that the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has registered over two lakh workers, with every penny of its Rs 5,400 crore corpus dedicated exclusively to worker welfare programs.
Emergency Assistance Scheme and Rural Development Projects
Delhi Labour Minister Kapil Mishra announced that the government is working on a scheme to provide financial assistance to workers during emergencies, particularly in cases of workplace accidents. This initiative aims to offer immediate support to workers facing unexpected crises.
In addition to the education assistance program, Chief Minister Gupta inaugurated newly constructed panchayat buildings in two villages and laid the foundation stone for 59 development projects across 37 villages in rural Delhi. According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, these projects, valued at Rs 134 crore, will significantly enhance infrastructure and civic amenities in the capital's rural areas.
The comprehensive approach combining educational support, worker welfare measures, and rural development initiatives underscores the BJP government's focus on holistic development as it completes its first year in office in Delhi.
