In Lucknow, the vision of Viksit Bharat can be successfully realized if civilians embrace the discipline and perfection exemplified by the Indian Army, stated Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Asim Arun on Friday. The minister made these remarks while addressing a gathering at the Kalyankari Gatividhi Samaroh, an event organized under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Uttar Pradesh Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Ltd (UPSKNL). This initiative is dedicated to providing comprehensive welfare support to veterans and their families, ensuring their well-being and integration into society.

Educational and Welfare Initiatives Under Government Leadership

During his speech, Minister Asim Arun highlighted the significant progress made under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He detailed the extensive facilities that have been provided to schools across various districts between 2022 and 2026. These enhancements include the installation of smart classrooms, modern furniture, comfortable beds, advanced water purification systems, state-of-the-art IT equipment, sustainable solar power plants, bicycles for student mobility, and educational tablets. These improvements have substantially boosted student access and enrollment rates, contributing to a more robust educational framework in the region.

Distribution of Aid and Support at the Event

The event witnessed a large attendance of ex-servicemen, war widows, and differently-abled beneficiaries, underscoring the community's engagement with welfare programs. In a gesture of support, Minister Asim Arun personally distributed motorized wheelchairs to differently-abled beneficiaries, enhancing their mobility and independence. Additionally, he handed out 1,462 tablets to students from Sarvodaya schools, empowering them with digital tools for better learning outcomes. This distribution is part of a broader effort to bridge the digital divide and foster educational equity among children from diverse backgrounds.

UPSKNL's Role in Veteran Welfare and Employment

Retired Major General Sharad Bikram Singh, the Managing Director of UPSKNL, elaborated on the organization's mission and achievements. Established in 1989 under the Companies Act, UPSKNL has been instrumental in providing financial assistance, rehabilitation services, and employment opportunities to ex-servicemen, war widows, and differently-abled veterans. To date, the initiatives spearheaded by UPSKNL have successfully employed approximately 31,000 veterans, offering them a pathway to economic stability and social inclusion. This employment drive not only supports individual veterans but also strengthens the overall fabric of the community by leveraging their skills and experiences.

Comprehensive Support for Health and Financial Needs

Further emphasizing UPSKNL's commitment, Major General Singh mentioned the supply of essential medical equipment to primary health centers, enhancing healthcare accessibility for veterans and their families. In the current year, nearly Rs 19 lakh has been distributed as financial aid to war widows and ex-servicemen beneficiaries, providing crucial support during times of need. This financial assistance is part of a holistic approach to welfare, addressing both immediate and long-term requirements of the veteran community.

Additional Chief Secretary L Venkateshwarlu also addressed the gathering, reinforcing the importance of disciplined work in achieving national goals.
