Alwar Creates History as India's First Fully Insured District

In a landmark achievement for financial inclusion, Alwar district in Rajasthan has become the first district in India to achieve 100% insurance coverage under the central government's ambitious 'Insurance for All by 2047' roadmap. This accomplishment aligns perfectly with the national vision of 'Secure India–Insured India' at the grassroots level, demonstrating how targeted initiatives can transform rural communities.

Systematic Implementation Leads to Complete Coverage

The remarkable achievement was made possible through systematic door-to-door surveys conducted across nine villages in the district. These surveys identified 1,367 previously uninsured individuals over the age of 10 who were then brought under insurance protection. The comprehensive effort has now resulted in Alwar district reaching the significant milestone of complete insurance coverage for all eligible residents.

Government and Regulatory Collaboration

The 'Insurance for All by 2047' roadmap represents a collaborative initiative between the Government of India and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), which operates as a statutory body under the Ministry of Finance. This partnership aims to create a more financially secure population through widespread insurance adoption across the country.

Formal Declaration of Fully Insured Villages

During a special program chaired by Additional District Collector Bina Mahawar on Tuesday, insurance policies were formally handed over to beneficiaries. The following nine villages have now been officially declared as fully insured communities:

  • Bhulla Ka Bas
  • Bichpuri
  • Palankheda
  • Antapada
  • Hanumanta
  • Kalyanpura
  • Morodkhurd
  • Kodalka
  • Lalpur

Financial Support and Implementation Details

Insurance premiums for all eligible adults in these nine villages were fully funded by a non-governmental organization, ensuring that villagers could obtain coverage without any financial burden. The insurance policies themselves were issued by United India Insurance Company Ltd, a government-owned insurance provider that played a crucial role in implementing this initiative.

Historic Achievement for Indian Insurance Sector

Sanjeev Kumar Das, Joint Director of the State Insurance and Provident Fund department, described this development as a historic achievement for the Indian insurance sector. "Today's youth is tomorrow's India… so it is essential for them and their families to be connected with insurance coverage," he emphasized during the program.

Das further explained that insurance coverage forms the foundation of individual dignity, security, and self-reliance, particularly in rural areas where financial protection can make a substantial difference in people's lives. The Alwar model now serves as a blueprint that other districts across India can potentially replicate as the country works toward its 2047 insurance coverage goals.
