Massive Response to Jharkhand's Girl Education Scheme
The Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana in Jharkhand has received overwhelming participation during this financial year. Officials from the Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security confirm a staggering 6,07,467 online applications registered so far.
Substantial Financial Support Disbursed
Authorities have already distributed more than Rs 104.65 crore to 2,78,463 eligible beneficiaries. Payments for remaining applicants continue actively. The scheme provides crucial financial assistance to school-going adolescent girls across the state.
Social Welfare Director Kiran Kumar Pasi emphasized the scheme's broader vision on Sunday. He stated that the initiative focuses on educating and empowering adolescent girls and women. The ultimate goal involves building a healthy, strong society where women live with dignity. Girls should achieve their full potential through quality education.
Scheme Details and Implementation
Launched in the 2022–23 financial year, this ambitious program offers financial incentives up to Rs 40,000. The amount reaches beneficiaries in phased installments. This structured support ensures continuity in education while reducing financial barriers for families.
Officials report applications from 13,469 schools out of 15,007 registered on the e-Vidyavahini platform. However, they express serious concern about 1,508 schools with zero applications submitted. All e-Vidyavahini-registered schools qualify to apply for financial support covering girls from Classes VIII to XII.
Non-participation by schools could negatively impact girls' education significantly. This situation might increase dropout risks and create associated social challenges. Pasi addressed this gap directly, confirming that instructions went to regional education staff. Their task involves ensuring applications from remaining schools reach the system promptly.
Training and Support Mechanisms
The social welfare directorate organized comprehensive training for officials, headmasters, BEEOs and block child development project officers. Training covered the online application process through the SBPKSY portal. Authorities also provide periodic technical support to ensure smooth implementation.
For scheme-related assistance, beneficiaries may contact multiple officials. These include district education officers, district social welfare officers, school headmasters, BEEOs or Block Child Development Project Officers. The department urges all eligible girls from Classes VIII to XII to apply without delay. They should avail benefits under this transformative initiative designed specifically for their educational advancement.
