More than 2.1 crore farmers in Uttar Pradesh received financial assistance worth Rs 4,352 crore on Saturday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from West Bengal.
Virtual Participation by CM Yogi
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath joined the programme virtually from Jhansi and expressed gratitude to PM Modi for the continued support of farmers. He described the financial assistance as not merely an economic benefit but a symbol of the government's commitment to the hard work, dignity, and prosperity of the farming community.
National Disbursement and UP's Share
According to the state government, the latest installment forms part of a nationwide transfer of more than Rs 18,880 crore to over 94.4 million farmers across the country. Uttar Pradesh accounted for the largest share of beneficiaries, with over 2.1 crore farmers receiving Rs 4,352 crore.
Yogi said the prosperity and well-being of farmers remain a top priority of the "double-engine government." The PM-KISAN scheme provides eligible farmer families with annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000, paid in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Cumulative Disbursement Since 2019
With the latest disbursement, farmers in Uttar Pradesh have received a cumulative Rs 1.03 lakh crore under the scheme since its inception in 2019. This significant financial support underscores the government's ongoing commitment to the agricultural sector.
