The municipal corporation of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has decided to prioritize addressing the water woes of residents living in areas without tap water connections. Municipal Commissioner Amol Yedge stated that separate guidelines will be prepared to provide tap connections in no-network zones.
Out of the 19 overhead tanks constructed as part of the new water supply project, 10 are located in no-network areas. Consequently, tap connections will be given priority in these regions. Yedge also emphasized that pending works related to internal pipelines and other components in these areas will be expedited with assistance from Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP), the project implementing agency.
Various authorities are pushing to complete pending works of the new Rs 2,750 crore water supply project and allied schemes. This push aims to meet the June 12 deadline set by the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court to supply an additional 50 MLD of water to the city, improving supply frequency in network areas.
Divisional Commissioner G Sreekanth reviewed the ongoing water supply scheme works on Saturday and urged necessary compliance. He visited the 392 MLD capacity water treatment plant at Nakshatrawadi for firsthand inspection and held discussions with officials to assess project progress.
Detailed discussions covered the current status of various project components, progress of remaining tasks, and measures needed to commence water supply. The critical importance of completing remaining works within the stipulated timeframe was reiterated. All authorities and private contractors were asked to work in coordination, as per a press release quoting Sreekanth.
The divisional commissioner further clarified that if any legal or administrative hurdles arise during project implementation, concerned agencies must coordinate with his office before taking any action.
