In a powerful address marking the 77th Republic Day celebrations in Vijayawada, District Collector Dr G Lakshmisha called for a unified effort to accelerate development and strengthen national unity. Speaking at the IGMC stadium grounds where he served as chief guest, Dr Lakshmisha urged citizens to transcend divisions of caste, creed, religion, and region to ensure comprehensive progress for both the district and the nation.
Republic Day Ceremonies and Constitutional Foundations
The collector began the celebrations by hoisting the National Flag with solemn dignity, receiving a guard of honour, and reviewing an impressive parade featuring police forces and various contingents. During his address, Dr Lakshmisha highlighted India's constitutional foundations, paying tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and local leaders including Pingali Venkayya and Ayyadevara Kaleswara Rao.
He emphasized that the nation's democratic strength fundamentally rests on the Constitution drafted under the visionary leadership of Dr BR Ambedkar. The collector stressed that while citizens exercise their constitutional rights, they must equally discharge their duties with responsibility and commitment to the nation's progress.
Ambitious Development Roadmap for Vijayawada
Dr Lakshmisha outlined an ambitious, people-centric development roadmap for Vijayawada district, detailing how the state government is implementing various development and welfare initiatives. These efforts align with the broader Swarna Andhra Vision 2047, aiming to transform the region through comprehensive planning and execution.
P4 Programme and Poverty Eradication
A significant highlight was the P4 programme launched in Muppalla village of Nandigama mandal, which has already connected 98,408 golden families with 5,401 mentors across the district. This innovative initiative focuses on eradicating poverty and promoting economic self-reliance through structured guidance and support systems.
Welfare Schemes and Public Grievance Resolution
The collector provided updates on several key welfare schemes demonstrating tangible progress:
- Stree Shakti initiatives empowering women across the district
- Auto Driver Seva programs supporting transportation workers
- Ongoing efforts to maintain Vijayawada as an illicit-liquor-free and drug-free district
- Resolution of 99 percent of public grievances within stipulated timelines through the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS)
Dr Lakshmisha reiterated that the super six promises of the state government form the cornerstone of these development efforts, ensuring that welfare reaches every section of society. His address concluded with a renewed call for collective action, emphasizing that true development can only be achieved when citizens work together beyond artificial divisions, contributing to both local progress and national unity.
