UP Leads in Infrastructure via PRAGATI Portal, Says Yogi

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath introduced the PRAGATI portal in Lucknow on Tuesday. He emphasized Uttar Pradesh's leading role in executing large-scale infrastructure projects across India.

UP Emerges as a Breakthrough State

Yogi Adityanath addressed a press conference in Lucknow to announce the portal. He stated that UP is moving beyond its old image as a bottleneck state. Now, it is emerging as a breakthrough state in the country.

The chief minister explained how various departments are collaborating through the platform. Revenue, Pollution Control Board, power, telecommunications, forest, urban development and panchayati raj departments are working together. They follow up with central ministries to secure timely approvals for projects.

Massive Project Portfolio

Uttar Pradesh currently holds the biggest portfolio of ongoing infrastructure projects in India. The state is executing 330 crucial projects with a total budget of Rs 10.48 lakh crore.

Out of these 330 projects, 128 have already been completed and commissioned. The remaining projects are in various stages of completion across the state.

PRAGATI Portal's Central Role

Yogi highlighted the importance of the centralized PRAGATI portal during his announcement. The dashboard serves as a technology-driven collaborative platform. It connects the Prime Minister's Office, central ministries and state governments.

This platform helps fast-track the delivery of big-ticket infrastructure projects throughout the country. The portal shifts administrative work from being file-oriented to outcome-oriented. This change accelerates decision-making through close coordination among all stakeholders.

Historical Development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi first conceptualized the portal during his tenure as Gujarat's chief minister back in 2003. The system was institutionalized and strengthened over time. In 2024, it expanded to include the status of high-value projects nationwide.

Nationally, the portal has been instrumental in expediting work on 377 major projects. These projects represent a total value exceeding Rs 86 lakh crore across India.

UP's Infrastructure Achievements

Yogi Adityanath detailed Uttar Pradesh's significant infrastructure accomplishments. The state boasts the country's first rapid rail system. It maintains the largest railway network in India.

UP features extensive metro services with strong air connectivity throughout the region. The state is home to the highest number of expressways in the country. It also developed substantial inland waterways.

Varanasi hosts India's only ropeway project established for urban commuting. Yogi emphasized how these important projects are widely benefiting the public across Uttar Pradesh.

Current Monitoring Through PRAGATI

The chief minister provided specific data about current project monitoring. Sixty-five major projects worth Rs 4.19 lakh crore are being tracked through the portal today. Twenty-six of these projects have already been commissioned. Thirty-nine projects remain in various stages of development.

Out of 515 issues that were flagged on the platform, an impressive 96% have been resolved so far. This high resolution rate showcases growing accountability and transparency in project management.

Transforming Project Timelines

Yogi explained how PRAGATI provides a powerful mechanism for timely project completion. The portal compresses processes that once took years into just months. Procedures that previously required months now take only days to complete.

In today's competitive environment, delays in projects, MOUs or statutory approvals can drive investors to other states. The PRAGATI model helps prevent such delays through efficient monitoring and coordination.

Strategic Positioning

The PRAGATI model played a pivotal role in positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leading state. It particularly strengthened UP's standing in railways, highways and logistics sectors.

Yogi Adityanath concluded his remarks with a forward-looking statement. He said Uttar Pradesh is transforming from being a mere facilitator to becoming an accelerator. The state is now driving economic growth throughout the country with its efficient project execution.
