Delhi-NCR Commuters Rejoice: Single Security Check Now at Namo Bharat & New Ashok Nagar
Single Security Check for Namo Bharat & Delhi Metro Link

Commuters in Delhi-NCR can now breathe a sigh of relief as a major hassle in their daily travel has been eliminated. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has successfully operationalised a single-point security check system between the Namo Bharat station and the adjoining New Ashok Nagar metro station on the Blue Line. This move, announced on Sunday, directly addresses a long-standing pain point for thousands of passengers.

End of Dual Frisking: A Seamless Transit Experience

Previously, passengers switching between the rapid rail and the metro had to undergo separate security screenings at each station. This often resulted in long queues, significant delays, and considerable inconvenience, especially during the busy morning and evening peak hours. Under the new streamlined arrangement, commuters will be frisked only once.

This means that a passenger heading from the Delhi Metro's Blue Line towards Meerut via the Namo Bharat train will not have to go through another security check after interchanging. The facility has been made possible through a dedicated foot over bridge (FOB) that connects the two stations and the establishment of a new, integrated security checkpoint at metro gate number 2.

Infrastructure Boost: New FOB at Ghaziabad Station

In a related development aimed at enhancing multi-modal connectivity, the NCRTC has also operationalised a 300-metre-long Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at the Ghaziabad Namo Bharat station. This bridge provides a direct link to the Delhi Metro's Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda station.

The newly opened FOB connects the lower platform level of the Namo Bharat station directly with the metro concourse. Officials have indicated that there are plans to install travellators on this bridge in the future. This addition will further smoothen passenger movement and make the interchange effortless for the elderly and those with luggage.

Part of a Larger Integration Push

The introduction of the single security check is not an isolated upgrade. It is a key component of NCRTC's wider multi-modal integration strategy for the National Capital Region. Earlier, the corporation had introduced an integrated QR-based ticketing system in collaboration with the Delhi Metro.

That initiative allows commuters to book journey tickets across both the Namo Bharat and Delhi Metro networks using a single mobile application, eliminating the need to stand in separate ticketing queues. Together, these measures are designed to create a unified, efficient, and user-friendly public transport ecosystem, encouraging more people to opt for sustainable transit options.
