Senior bureaucrat Sandeep Deshmukh on Tuesday assumed charge as the Commissioner for the Right to Public Services (RTS) in the Nagpur Revenue Division, pledging transparent and time-bound delivery of government services to citizens.
Background of the Appointment
Deshmukh took over following the completion of tenure of Abhay Yawalkar (Retd IAS), who served as the first RTS Commissioner for Nagpur division since December 1, 2021. Yawalkar's tenure concluded on January 10 this year. Maharashtra chief information commissioner Rahul Pande welcomed Deshmukh to his new posting.
Commitment to Effective Implementation
Deshmukh stated that the Act played a crucial role in reducing bureaucratic delays and improving accountability in government departments. He emphasized that his focus would be on ensuring effective and stricter implementation of the legislation across the Nagpur division.
Previous Roles and Experience
Prior to this appointment, Deshmukh served as secretary of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority while also holding the additional charge of additional commissioner and special registrar of cooperative societies. A law graduate, Deshmukh has also served as secretary of the Mumbai Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC).
