Madikeri: Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar announced that the Union government has sanctioned Rs 22 crore for road infrastructure development in Kodagu district. In a statement, the MP of the Mysore Lok Sabha constituency, which includes Kodagu, said that three major state highways will be developed using the allocated funds.
Funds Under Central Road and Infrastructure Fund
Yaduveer detailed that the funds have been released under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund for three key state highways. Specifically, Rs 6 crore has been sanctioned for the development of Kodlipet-Hebbale State Highway 244, Rs 10 crore for Madikeri-Kutta SH 89, which has suffered extensive damage due to incessant rainfall in recent years, and Rs 6 crore for State Highway 90 connecting Talacauvery road.
Expected Benefits
The BJP MP stated that the implementation of these works will improve road safety, passenger comfort, and transport efficiency across the district. Additionally, it is expected to provide a significant boost to tourism and economic activities. He emphasized that good roads are crucial for Kodagu to meet the growing needs of both tourists and locals. Yaduveer also assured that he will work to bring in more funds from the Union government to ensure the comprehensive development of Mysuru and Kodagu districts.
