The Delhi Government on Sunday launched development projects worth approximately Rs 10 crore in Pooth Khurd village, located in the Bawana Assembly constituency. These initiatives, funded under the Delhi Rural Development Board (DRDB), aim to enhance roads, drainage systems, and other civic infrastructure in the area.
Inauguration by Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh
The projects were inaugurated by Delhi’s Social Welfare, SC/ST/OBC Welfare, Cooperatives and Elections Minister, Ravinder Indraj Singh, who is also the Bawana MLA. According to the government, the works include strengthening village roads, constructing cement concrete pavements, developing RCC drains, and undertaking other measures to improve drainage and civic amenities.
Expected Benefits
Officials stated that these projects are expected to reduce waterlogging, enhance internal connectivity, and improve access to public services and commercial areas. Addressing residents during the launch, Minister Singh emphasized that providing modern infrastructure in Delhi’s rural areas remains a key priority for the government. He noted that the projects in Pooth Khurd were planned with a long-term vision for the village’s development and aimed at improving residents’ quality of life.
Minister’s Remarks
“Strong roads, an efficient drainage system, and better connectivity form the foundation of sustainable rural development,” Singh said. He highlighted the government’s focus on the Bawana constituency, mentioning that development projects worth around Rs 20 crore were launched in Deep Vihar a day earlier, while another Rs 10 crore worth of works have now been initiated in Pooth Khurd. The back-to-back announcements reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure in rural areas and ensuring residents benefit from improved civic amenities.
Future Plans
The minister also stated that the Delhi Rural Development Board is working to upgrade basic infrastructure in villages and colonies across the Bawana Assembly constituency. Additional projects related to sanitation, transportation, and civic infrastructure are planned in the coming months. Officials added that the latest projects are expected to improve mobility, ease drainage-related problems, and contribute to the broader integration of rural Delhi into the city’s development framework.
