Punjab Governor Reviews Public Facilities in Manimajra

In a significant move to assess and enhance public service delivery, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria conducted a comprehensive review of key facilities in Manimajra on Tuesday. The visit, aimed at improving citizen welfare, focused on healthcare, education, and public utility infrastructure.

Detailed Inspection at Civil Hospital

Accompanied by Chief Secretary H Rajesh Prasad and other senior officials, the administrator's first stop was the Civil Hospital in Manimajra. Kataria took a hands-on approach, directly interacting with patients in the emergency ward to enquire about their treatment and recovery progress. He received detailed briefings from doctors on the functioning of registration and payment windows, emergency OPD services, and general ward operations.

The review was extensive, covering multiple departments. Kataria personally inspected the surgery and orthopaedic OPDs, the labour room, the children's ward, the phototherapy unit, and the gynaecology ward. Throughout the inspection, he actively listened to feedback from both patients and their attendants. The administrator also examined sanitation arrangements and facilities linked to the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA). He concluded that the hospital is adequately meeting the local healthcare needs, a positive assessment for the community.

Emphasis on Modern Learning at Govt Model High School

The next point of review was the Govt Model High School. Here, Kataria engaged with students in smart classrooms and observed activity-based learning methodologies being implemented in the Balvatika, the pre-primary section. He expressed strong support for such modern teaching techniques, emphasising that they help students grasp complex concepts more effectively. The governor also shared several practical suggestions with school authorities to further strengthen learning outcomes and ensure a high-quality educational environment.

Community Spaces and Future Plans at Indra Colony

The final leg of the field visit took the administrator to Indra Colony Park. Officials briefed him on a community proposal to establish a dispensary near the park. Kataria assured residents that the matter is under active consideration by the administration. During his inspection of a newly developed water body within the park, he suggested installing a fountain and proper fencing to enhance both aesthetics and public safety.

Highlighting the vital role of green spaces in urban living, Kataria stated that parks should serve as safe, refreshing hubs for recreation and community interaction. He reiterated that the primary goal of such on-ground visits is to identify areas for improvement in public infrastructure and to work systematically towards enhancing facilities for all citizens of Chandigarh.
