Panchkula Police Trained on iRAD App for Road Safety

A training programme on the Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD) app was conducted at the police commissioner's office in Sector 4, Panchkula, on Sunday. This initiative aims to enhance road safety and strengthen accident investigations.

About the iRAD App

Developed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), iRAD is a digital platform designed to identify the causes of road accidents and reduce fatalities through data-driven analysis. Project manager Ashish Gurung briefed police personnel on the app's features and functioning during the session.

Key Features and Benefits

The application can be used on mobile phones and computers, enabling police to upload accident details — including location, time, cause, and information about victims — directly from the spot. This system is expected to speed up FIR registration and improve investigation efficiency. Additionally, the platform will help identify accident-prone stretches, allowing authorities to take corrective steps such as better traffic management and installation of safety signage.
