This initiative was discussed during a review meeting led by Housing and Urban Development Secretary Usha Padhee.

Four New Projects Announced

The proposed projects include the Suango Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project, which will be developed on 12.9 acres near AIIMS-Bhubaneswar. This project is expected to yield 2,867 dwelling units, comprising 1,034 affordable housing units. The board anticipates a minimum revenue of Rs 210 crore from this venture.

In Rourkela, the Basanti Colony joint venture residential apartment will build 238 apartments for middle-income and high-income groups.

Focus on Affordable Housing

The OSHB has requested district administrations to alienate suitable government land for developing affordable housing projects. Secretary Padhee directed the board to prepare a concrete, time-bound action plan for statewide expansion, emphasizing social housing as a key focus to address the needs of economically weaker and lower-income urban families.

Past Achievements and Ongoing Projects

OSHB sources revealed that the board has developed 32,343 housing units, shops, and plots across 21 districts, catering to various income groups including EWS, LIG, MIG, and HIG. Notably, over 20,000 units have been developed in Khurda district alone.

Currently, five major projects are underway with an investment exceeding Rs 517 crore to build 1,484 housing units. These include Kharavela Enclave at Jagamara, Anugul Enclave Housing Project, Subhadra Enclave at Dumduma, Vasudev Vihar at Andharua, and Gadakana housing project. Officials stated that these projects are slated for launch in July 2026 after completing approvals and Orera registration.
