Odisha Government Simplifies Job Application Process for Employees
The General Administration and Public Grievance department in Odisha took a significant step on Thursday. It issued a standing order that will make life easier for its employees. This order acts as a blanket No Objection Certificate for all staff members under its control.
Eliminating the Need for Individual NOCs
Employees no longer need to obtain separate NOCs from their offices before applying for other government jobs. The department receives numerous requests each year from officers and staff seeking permission to appear in recruitment exams. Since these permissions are almost always granted, the old process wasted considerable time.
Applicants often had to visit department branches to speed up pending requests. Delays in issuing NOCs caused significant inconvenience to many employees. The new standing order aims to remove these hurdles completely.
How the New System Works
The state government has granted standing permission and a No Objection Certificate to all officers and employees working under the GA&PG department. This applies when they apply for any job elsewhere. From now on, the department will not issue or entertain individual NOCs or permissions.
Employees can simply produce this standing order directly to recruitment organizations during their application process. This change streamlines procedures and reduces bureaucratic delays significantly.
Important Conditions and Responsibilities
The government has set certain conditions alongside this new freedom. Employees must not neglect their official duties and responsibilities while appearing for examinations. They need prior permission from the competent authority to take leave for recruitment tests.
The standing order does not release employees from the department's administrative control. If selected for a new job, employees must seek approval through proper channels before joining their new position. This ensures a smooth transition without disrupting current operations.
This progressive move by the Odisha government demonstrates a practical approach to administrative efficiency. It recognizes the career aspirations of government employees while maintaining necessary oversight and discipline.
