The power department in Noida has launched a major infrastructure upgrade to ensure reliable electricity supply during the upcoming summer months. Officials confirmed they will replace more than 2,500 old and dilapidated electricity poles across the district. This critical work aims to prevent power disruptions when demand peaks in the hot season.
Complete Replacement by March 31
Department authorities have set a firm deadline of March 31 to finish the entire replacement exercise. They have already begun the process with an initial batch of 500 poles. Following this phase, workers will replace another 1,000 poles. The remaining poles will be addressed in subsequent phases to complete the project on schedule.
New Feeders for Greater Noida West
In addition to pole replacement, the department will construct new feeders at the 33/11 kV substation located in Thaira. This substation supplies electricity to Roja Jalalpur, Roja Yakubpur, and surrounding villages in Greater Noida West. The existing infrastructure currently serves over 3,500 consumers and has become overloaded.
Superintending engineer Vivek Kumar Patel explained the situation clearly. He stated that the substation currently services both Roja Jalalpur and Roja Yakubpur villages. High electricity demand in these areas has created challenges in providing consistent power to residents.
Addressing Overload and Safety Concerns
The corporation received approval from its Meerut headquarters before starting the replacement process. An official from the power department highlighted multiple benefits of this initiative. He said the work will tackle local faults effectively. More importantly, it will enhance public safety by preventing accidents that could occur from poles falling.
Engineer Patel emphasized their commitment to strengthening the power infrastructure. He stated they aim to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to all consumers. The department recognizes that reliable power becomes especially crucial during summer months when usage increases significantly.
