Former Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu, emphasized that good governance is fundamental for national progress as it directly generates opportunities for people at the grassroots level. He made these remarks during a public event in Vizianagaram.
Vajpayee's Model of Governance Praised
Naidu stated that a government which operates free from harassment and is dedicated to all-round development perfectly exemplifies good governance. He pointed out that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee pioneered such practices in the country. The former VP was speaking after unveiling a bronze statue of Vajpayee, an event where BJP state president P V N Madhav was also present.
He lauded Vajpayee for upholding strong values in political life and leading the nation without a single stain of corruption. Naidu highlighted the late PM's landmark initiatives, including the launch of major national highway projects like the Golden Quadrilateral. He also noted Vajpayee's political acumen in uniting a coalition of 32 diverse parties to successfully govern the country.
Call to Implement Ideals, Not Just Install Statues
"It is not enough to pay homage by installing statues; we must implement his principles of good governance," Naidu stressed emphatically. He urged leaders from the BJP, TDP, and Jana Sena parties to actively follow the ideals set by Vajpayee for the benefit of the nation.
BJP's State-Wide Tributes and Ongoing Legacy
BJP state chief P V N Madhav informed the gathering that the party is unveiling 26 statues of Vajpayee across various districts as part of the ongoing Atal-Modi Good Governance Yatra. He also announced that a 'Vajpayee Smruthi Vanam' (memorial forest) will be inaugurated on December 25th.
State minister Kondapalli Srinivas connected the governance philosophy of the past and present, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration continues to advance Vajpayee's ideology. He cited the continuation and expansion of schemes originally conceptualized or launched during Vajpayee's tenure, such as the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
Another minister, Satya Kumar, praised Vajpayee for his transformative vision that changed India's trajectory. He also commended Vajpayee for maintaining high ethical standards even when he served as the Leader of the Opposition.
Local Vizianagaram MLA, Aditi Vijayalakshmi Gajapati Raju, echoed the sentiments, calling Atal Bihari Vajpayee a true visionary whose plans and policies helped shape modern India.
