Nagpur Rural Police SP Office Clinches Second Position in Maharashtra's 150-Day e-Governance Evaluation

The Nagpur Rural Police Superintendent of Police (SP) Office has achieved a significant milestone by securing the second position in the 150-day e-Governance Improvement Evaluation Programme in Maharashtra. This accomplishment follows its earlier success in the Chief Minister's 100-day Action Plan, where it also earned the second rank.

Recognition Among Top Police Units in Maharashtra

With this latest achievement, the Nagpur Rural Police SP Office has distinguished itself as one of only two police units in Maharashtra to excel in these initiatives, alongside the Thane Commissionerate. The programme, launched by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, aims to enhance administrative efficiency, transparency, and citizen-centric services across government departments.

Evaluated independently by the Quality Council of India, the Nagpur Rural Police SP Office scored an impressive 161 out of 200 marks, placing it among the top five police establishments in the state. The results were announced during the Republic Day ceremony at Kasturchand Park in Nagpur, where IG Nagpur Range Sandeep Patil, SP Harssh A Poddar, and Additional SP Anil Mhaske shared the news with the media.

Felicitations and Key Focus Areas

Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule felicitated SP Poddar and Additional SP Mhaske for their outstanding performance. The 150-day campaign focused on six critical areas to drive digital transformation in policing:

  • Enhancement of the official website
  • Implementation of the Aaple Sarkar system
  • Adoption of e-office solutions
  • Management of office dashboards
  • Integration of WhatsApp chatbots
  • Development of innovative projects

Innovative Digital Initiatives for Public Service

The official website, nagpurgraminpolice.gov.in, now features a multilingual WhatsApp AI chatbot that supports Marathi, English, and Hindi. This platform allows citizens to file complaints, submit suggestions, or access services with ease. A dedicated Voice Search feature has been introduced to promote inclusivity, assisting differently-abled individuals in navigating the system.

In crime investigation, the force has pioneered the MahaCrimeOS AI Copilot, developed in collaboration with state initiatives like MARVEL. This tool leverages advanced technology to streamline investigative processes and improve accuracy.

Cutting-Edge Projects Enhancing Policing Efficiency

Among the standout innovative projects is the Secured Asset Automation & Retrieval Technology (SMART), which utilizes artificial intelligence, blockchain, and DigiLocker for secure asset recording and management. Another notable initiative is the GIS/Remote Sensing/Locational Services application via MARVEL, which supports:

  1. Telecom data mapping
  2. Behavioural analysis
  3. Technical evidence mapping
  4. Pattern identification
  5. Face and object detection
  6. Smart beat patrolling with three-tier supervision

SP Harssh A Poddar attributed these successes to collective teamwork, emphasizing a deep commitment to modern, efficient policing that prioritizes public trust and safety. He highlighted how these digital initiatives are transforming the force into a more responsive and transparent entity, better equipped to serve the community.

The achievements of the Nagpur Rural Police SP Office underscore a broader shift towards digital governance in Maharashtra, setting a benchmark for other police units to follow in embracing technology for enhanced public service.
