Nagpur MSEDCL Observes National Lineman Day with Emphasis on Safety and Innovation
The Nagpur circle of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) marked National Lineman Day with spirited celebrations, where officials and technical staff reinforced their dedication to safety, technological progress, and superior customer service. Events were held across multiple divisions, highlighting the critical role of linemen in the power sector.
Congress Nagar Division Hosts Key Program with Safety and Learning Focus
A significant program was organized at the Congress Nagar division, featuring addresses from senior MSEDCL executives. Chief Engineer Dilip Dodke urged technical employees to execute their duties with unwavering dedication while strictly following safety guidelines and prioritizing their health. The staff collectively took a safety pledge during the occasion.
MSEDCL Chairman and Managing Director Lokesh Chandra and Director (Human Resources) Rajendra Pawar conveyed their messages through an audio-visual presentation, underscoring the organization's commitment to employee welfare and operational excellence.
Dodke Highlights Safety and Technological Advancements
Dodke pointed out that many accidents in the field stem from overconfidence or minor oversights, stressing the compulsory use of safety equipment during fieldwork. He also emphasized the evolving technological landscape in the power industry, noting that the advent of smart meters and modern systems necessitates continuous skill upgrades for employees.
"There is no age limit for learning new things," Dodke remarked, encouraging a culture of lifelong learning to keep pace with innovations.
Enhanced Customer Communication and Gender Diversity Praised
Dodke appealed to employees to improve communication with consumers, particularly during power outages. "Whenever electricity supply is disrupted, consumers remember the linemen first. It is important to patiently explain the situation and help resolve their concerns," he stated. He also highlighted the increased representation of women employees at MSEDCL since the implementation of 30% reservation for women in 2013, acknowledging their equal contributions to bolstering the organization's reputation.
Civil Lines Division Honors Linemen as 'Prakash Doots'
Another program was conducted in the Civil Lines division under the chairmanship of Superintending Engineer Amit Paranjpe. Here, linemen—often revered as "Prakash Doots" or messengers of light—were honored for their invaluable service. Employees pledged to achieve the dual goals of "Zero Accidents" and "Zero Outstanding Dues," reflecting a commitment to safety and financial efficiency.
Wide Participation and Acknowledgments
The Congress Nagar event saw addresses from Executive Engineer Rahul Jivatode, Assistant General Manager (Human Resources) Mahesh Jadhav, and Deputy Chief Public Relations Officer Yogesh Vitankar. The program was anchored by Kritika Joshi, with introductory remarks by Jayant Thakre and a vote of thanks proposed by Abhilash Barapatre.
In the Civil Lines division, Dhammadeep Fulzhele and Hemraj Dhoke addressed the gathering, while linemen representatives Apeksha Bahadure and Pathan shared their perspectives. Sindhu Wankhede conducted the event, and Vinay Gondhale delivered the vote of thanks.
Officials, engineers, and technical staff from various levels attended these programs, demonstrating a unified effort to celebrate and support the linemen who are essential to maintaining reliable power distribution in the region.
