In a significant move aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure, the Finance and Contracts Committee (F&CC) of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) convened on Tuesday and approved development works totaling Rs 141.7 crore. The committee meeting, which reviewed 25 agenda items, focused on critical areas including road construction, stormwater drainage systems, sewerage networks, water supply enhancements, street lighting upgrades, and various public infrastructure improvements.

Key Projects and Allocations

Among the prominent projects sanctioned is the development of Atal Park and Atal Smriti Kendra in Dharampur village, with an estimated budget of Rs 8 crore. This initiative is expected to create a recreational and memorial space for residents. Additionally, the committee allocated funds for the development and beautification of secondary garbage collection points under the Swachh Bharat Mission in several localities:

  • Daultabad: Rs 5.2 crore
  • Carterpuri: Rs 3.9 crore
  • Beri Bagh: Rs 3.8 crore
  • Khandsa: Rs 3.9 crore

These projects aim to improve waste management and enhance the aesthetic appeal of these areas.

Infrastructure Upgrades and Water Supply Initiatives

The committee also approved the strengthening of old sewer lines with a diameter of 600 mm in key areas such as Civil Lines, Sadar Bazaar, and Jacobpura. To address persistent waterlogging issues, approval was granted for laying a comprehensive stormwater drainage system and developing a disposal network in Sectors 9, 9A, and other affected zones.

Further allocations were made for the development and augmentation of infrastructure services in villages, including Dhumaspur and Maidawas, with each project exceeding Rs 9 crore. Water supply pipeline projects were also cleared for villages like Dhankot (Rs 5.5 crore) and Daultabad (Rs 4.1 crore), ensuring better access to clean drinking water.

Road Construction and Modernization Efforts

The meeting sanctioned proposals for the construction and reconstruction of Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) roads in multiple areas. This includes the construction and recarpeting of roads using ready mix concrete and bituminous macadam-bituminous concrete in locations such as Dhanwapur Road, Sector 46, Madanpuri, and South City 1. Approval was also given for the reconstruction of the RMC road from Rajendra Park to Dhanwapur Chowk, aimed at improving connectivity and reducing traffic congestion.

In a move towards modernization, the committee approved the installation of Centralised Control and Monitoring System (CCMS) panels as part of the street light system upgrade. This initiative is expected to enhance energy efficiency and improve maintenance of street lighting across the city.

Official Statements and Future Monitoring

Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra emphasized the corporation's commitment to urban development, stating, "MCG is dedicated to the overall development of the city. The projects approved in the F&CC meeting are directly related to citizens' basic facilities. Strengthening the sewer, road, drainage, and drinking water systems will provide significant relief to the people."

MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya added, "In areas plagued by issues like waterlogging, sewer overflow, or road damage, clear improvements will be visible upon completion of these works. We will ensure regular monitoring of development projects to maintain quality and timely execution."

The approvals reflect a comprehensive approach to addressing Gurgaon's infrastructure challenges, with a focus on sustainable development and improved public amenities. The projects are expected to enhance the quality of life for residents and support the city's growth as a major urban center.
