Madurai: Retired Justice Selvam, along with Madurai District Collector P Akash, conducted an inspection of the S Kodikulam tank on Thursday to evaluate the extent of invasive prosopis trees and the area already cleared of them.
Collector's Directives
The collector instructed officials to take necessary steps for the complete removal of prosopis trees, ensure the protection and maintenance of the tank, and clear encroachments in the tank area. Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Kumar and other government officials were present during the inspection.
Revenue Settlement Meeting
The collector also held the Fasli 1435 revenue settlement meeting in Madurai West taluk under the Revenue Administration and Disaster Management Department. He urged officials to promptly address petitions received from the public and expedite various revenue-related tasks.
Tribute to Freedom Fighter
On the occasion of the 118th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Thiyagaseelar Kakkan, the collector paid floral tribute at his statue in the memorial hall in Thumbaipatti, Melur taluk. He viewed rare historical photographs displayed at the hall, highlighting Kakkan's life history, public service, political work, and social contributions.
