Madhubani District Magistrate Issues Urgent Appeal to Pension Beneficiaries
District Magistrate Anand Sharma has made an urgent appeal to all pension beneficiaries in Madhubani district to complete their mandatory annual life certification without delay. This crucial verification process ensures that pension payments continue uninterrupted for elderly citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities who depend on these vital funds.
Critical Deadline Approaching for Thousands of Pensioners
According to an official press note released by the district public relations office, approximately 1.8 lakh pensioners out of a total of 6.14 lakh beneficiaries have yet to complete their life certification. This represents nearly 30% of all pension recipients in the district who risk having their payments suspended if they fail to complete this mandatory requirement.
The district's social security cell manages six different pension schemes that provide essential financial support to vulnerable populations. All funds are distributed through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts, making timely verification even more critical for maintaining this financial lifeline.
Current Certification Status and Available Options
Of the 6.14 lakh pensioners requiring annual certification, approximately 4.33 lakh individuals (about 71%) have already completed the process successfully. The remaining 1.8 lakh beneficiaries can complete their certification free of charge at any nearby Common Service Center (CSC).
The district administration has provided multiple authentication options to accommodate different circumstances:
- Standard fingerprint scanning at CSCs
- Iris scan authentication as an alternative for those facing fingerprint recognition issues
- Aadhaar enrollment center visits for beneficiaries experiencing technical problems with their Aadhaar credentials
Holi Season Presents Ideal Opportunity for Certification
District Magistrate Anand Sharma specifically highlighted the approaching Holi festival as an ideal time for pensioners to complete their life certification. "With Holi approaching, a large number of people return to their homes in the district. This is a right opportunity for pensioners to get their life certification done quickly," Sharma stated in the official release.
The DM emphasized the importance of timely action, adding: "I appeal to all remaining beneficiaries to visit their nearest CSC without delay so that their pensions continue smoothly and on time." This seasonal timing allows pensioners who may have migrated temporarily to complete the process while visiting their home district for the festival celebrations.
Consequences of Non-Compliance
Failure to submit the annual life certification can lead to immediate suspension of pension disbursements. This verification requirement exists to confirm that recipients remain alive and eligible for continued support under the various pension schemes administered by the district's social security cell.
The district administration has stressed that the certification process is designed to be accessible and convenient, with multiple authentication methods available to accommodate different physical capabilities and technical situations. Beneficiaries experiencing any difficulties are encouraged to seek assistance at their nearest CSC or Aadhaar enrollment center to ensure their pension payments continue without interruption.
