The municipal corporation's Zone-C building branch in Ludhiana carried out a demolition drive on Saturday, razing three illegally constructed under-construction shops on Barota road. Officials confirmed that another illegal construction situated under high-tension electricity wires was also demolished as part of the operation.
Regular Action Against Illegal Constructions
Building branch officials stated that such drives are conducted regularly to curb unauthorized building activities. They emphasized that the demolition drive will continue in the coming days to ensure compliance with municipal norms.
On Friday, MC teams had previously removed an encroachment from government land in the Lohara area. Notices were served to the owners of the demolished structures well in advance, but they failed to halt the illegal construction, prompting the civic body to take action.
Appeal to Residents
MC officials have appealed to residents to initiate construction only after obtaining approved building plans from the municipal corporation. They warned of strict action, including demolition, against those who violate the regulations.
The drive underscores the MC's commitment to enforcing building bylaws and ensuring safety, particularly near high-tension electricity lines where unauthorized construction poses serious risks.
