Khola Gram Sabha Resolves to Install CCTVs and Signboards
Khola Gram Sabha Votes for CCTVs and Signboards

The Khola gram sabha, held on Sunday in Canacona, unanimously resolved to install CCTV cameras and signboards at strategic locations across the village. Sarpanch Tejal Ajay Pagi announced that CCTV cameras will be placed at Saleri, Vaghonn, Molorem, and Gaval-Khola, while signboards will be erected at the entrances to Saleri, Nuem in Cananguinim, Vaghonn, and Cabo de Rama.

Discussion on Non-Local Businesses

The issue of businesses operated by individuals from outside the village was also a focal point of the meeting. Prashant Kholkar, a local resident, urged the panchayat to refrain from issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to businesses owned by non-locals. In response, Sarpanch Pagi clarified that no new licenses have been issued, and only two licenses granted by the previous panchayat body were renewed.

Garbage Management Concerns

Garbage management emerged as another key topic during the gram sabha. It was decided that each ward should adhere to a fixed timetable for waste collection, with wet and dry waste being collected simultaneously. Some villagers expressed that separate timings for wet and dry waste collection had caused inconvenience. Pagi noted that the panchayat currently has only one truck and two labourers dedicated to waste collection and management.

Saleri Bridge Condition

The deteriorating condition of the Saleri bridge was also discussed. Panchayat members plan to meet with Public Works Department (PWD) officials shortly to address the issue, and a new date for bridge inspection will be scheduled soon.

Nearly 40 villagers attended the meeting and actively participated in the discussions, reflecting strong community engagement in local governance.
