The Karnataka state government on Sunday carried out a significant reshuffle of senior bureaucrats, transferring and posting six Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to key positions across various departments. The move aims to streamline administrative functions and strengthen governance in critical sectors.
Key IAS Appointments
Among the prominent postings, Anjum Parwez, who was awaiting a new assignment after serving as additional chief secretary to former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has been appointed as additional chief secretary to the forest, ecology and environment department. This role places him at the helm of environmental policy and conservation efforts in the state.
Munish Moudgil, who previously served as special commissioner (administration, revenue and IT) of the Greater Bengaluru Authority, has been given the concurrent charge of principal secretary to the chief minister (programme and project implementation). This newly created post underscores the government's focus on efficient project execution and monitoring.
Deepa Cholan has been transferred and posted as secretary to the transport department, where she will oversee transportation policy and infrastructure. Meanwhile, Cauvery BS, who was also awaiting posting, has been appointed secretary to the urban development department, tasked with managing urban planning and development initiatives.
Venkatesh MV has been transferred and posted as registrar of cooperative societies, a key position in regulating cooperative institutions. Bharathi M has been appointed as commissioner for transport and road safety, responsible for enforcing traffic regulations and improving road safety measures.
Senior IPS Officers Transferred
In addition to the IAS reshuffle, the state government also transferred three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and assigned them crucial responsibilities in law enforcement and intelligence wings.
Pronab Mohanty, who was serving as director general of police (DGP), internal security division, has been transferred and posted as DGP, CID, special units and economic offences. In addition to his new responsibilities, Mohanty has also been entrusted with the concurrent charge of the post of DGP (cyber crimes), CID. This dual role highlights the increasing focus on tackling economic crimes and cyber threats.
In another key posting, Chandragupta, who was serving as inspector general of police (IGP), security (intelligence), Bengaluru, has been posted as IGP, intelligence. This move places him at the core of the state's intelligence gathering and analysis operations.
Labhu Ram, who was serving as IGP, intelligence, has been transferred and is currently awaiting posting. The reshuffle is expected to bring fresh perspectives and efficiency to the state's administrative and law enforcement machinery.
