In a major push to spruce up the Pink City, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched an intensive, multi-pronged city-wide operation focusing on cleanliness, beautification, and removing illegal encroachments. This large-scale initiative is timed ahead of the upcoming Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas, scheduled for December 10, with the goal of presenting a pristine and organized face of the heritage city to visitors and dignitaries.
Beautification and Cleanliness in Focus
The civic body's teams have been working round the clock across key tourist and public areas. A significant focus has been on the iconic Jal Mahal, where extensive cleaning and maintenance work was carried out along the embankment over the past two days. The progress of this work was personally reviewed on Saturday by Juikar Pratik Chandrashekhar, the director of the directorate of local bodies (DLB).
Simultaneously, beautification work has been accelerated within the historic Walled City. All zone deputy commissioners have received strict instructions to promptly remove illegal posters, banners, and flex boards. A key directive is to ensure the aesthetic restoration of the area's heritage gates is completed before the event. Officials stated that the objective is to ensure that all major tourist corridors present a clean, clutter-free, and visually appealing appearance.
Widespread Anti-Encroachment Campaign
Parallel to the beautification efforts, the JMC's vigilance wing has launched an extensive and aggressive anti-encroachment campaign. On Saturday alone, action was taken at numerous critical locations across the city. Temporary structures and roadside encroachments were dismantled and removed from several key spots, including:
- Motidungri Temple Road
- Gandhi Nagar station area
- Sanganer Diggi Road and Sanganer Bazaar
- NRI Road, Vidhyadhar Nagar
- Parshuram Circle, Lata Cinema, and Agrasen Circle
According to officials, this drive is being conducted simultaneously city-wide and has already covered over 60 locations. These include prominent areas like the Walled City, Statue Circle, Sahkar Marg, Janpath, and Bais Godam. The campaign has involved the removal of temporary kiosks, makeshift platforms, goods stored illegally on pavements, and other unauthorized roadside extensions, with large quantities of material being seized.
Preparing for the Big Event
The JMC has indicated that the intensity of this comprehensive campaign will only increase in the coming days. The clear goal is to ensure that Jaipur is fully prepared and looking its absolute best before the commencement of Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas on December 10. This event, which honors the Rajasthani diaspora, is a significant occasion for the state, drawing attention to its cultural capital. The civic administration's drive underscores a committed effort to showcase a well-managed, clean, and beautiful Jaipur to the world.
