Jaipur Residents Protest Water Shortage in Jagatpura

Jaipur: Residents of Kundanpura, Indira Gandhi Nagar, and Basant Vihar in the Jagatpura block staged a protest on Tuesday over the persistent water shortage and irregular supply in the area. Approximately 150 people, led by former councillor Chhotu Ram Meena, gathered to raise slogans and participate in the demonstration, demanding immediate action from authorities.

Long-Standing Issue Worsened by Summer Heat

Locals stated that the problem has been ongoing for a long time and has worsened with the summer heat. In several households, water arrives at very low pressure or does not reach at all, affecting daily routines and forcing some families to depend on private tankers for their needs.

Residents Voice Frustration

Chhotu Ram Meena said residents had continuously approached authorities over the issue but received little response. “People were left with no option but to protest,” he said. Residents reported that household work has become difficult due to the erratic supply. Rekha Devi, a resident, said, “Sometimes water comes with very low pressure, and many times there is no supply at all. Managing daily household work has become difficult.” Another resident, Mahesh Gurjar, noted that the issue returns every summer despite repeated complaints. “People have been raising the matter for years, but there has been no permanent solution,” he added.

Women Bear the Brunt

Pooja Meena, who was part of the demonstration, highlighted that women face the biggest burden. “A large part of the day goes into arranging water for the family. Children and elderly people are also suffering because of this,” she said.

Memorandum Submitted to Authorities

After the protest, residents submitted a memorandum to the Sanganer Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) demanding regular water supply and a long-term solution to the problem.
