The Department of Technical Education's Inquiry Committee has conducted an investigation into complaints of corruption and statutory violations against Prof Narsi Ram Bishnoi, the Vice-Chancellor of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUS&T) in Hisar.
Committee Engages Stakeholders
During its visit to the university campus, the committee met with various stakeholders and complainants to gather their perspectives on governance, administrative functioning, and compliance with statutory norms. The inquiry is part of a routine exercise undertaken by the department.
Teachers Association Submits Representation
The Guru Jambheshwar University Teachers Association (GJUTA) submitted a detailed representation focusing on compliance with the University Act, Statutes, UGC Regulations, and principles of good governance. GJUTA President Prof Vinod Goyal informed the committee that the association's concerns revolve around statutory governance, transparency, service rights of teachers, democratic functioning of university bodies, and adherence to the University Act and UGC Regulations.
Prof Goyal expressed confidence in the committee's process, stating that adequate opportunity was provided to all stakeholders to present their views, which has strengthened teachers' belief that their concerns are being considered objectively and fairly.
Complainant Alleges Bias in Previous Inquiry
Another complainant, Dr Sandeep Kumar Gupta, who has leveled corruption allegations against the Vice-Chancellor, submitted documentary evidence regarding alleged irregularities in an earlier inquiry. He claimed that the previous probe report was biased and deliberately whitewashed the issues.
Vice-Chancellor's Response
Responding to the allegations, Prof Narsi Ram Bishnoi stated that the inquiry is a routine exercise undertaken by the Technical Education Department. He maintained that the whole issue has been exaggerated by some individuals.
