Hubballi Observes 77th Republic Day with Emphasis on Constitutional Values and Civic Initiatives
Hubballi commemorated the 77th Republic Day with a series of vibrant celebrations that underscored the collective responsibility of citizens in upholding democratic principles. At the Nehru Stadium, Hubballi City Tahsildar Mahesh Gaste unfurled the national flag during an event organized by the Hubballi City Taluk Republic Day Committee, highlighting the historic significance of January 26, 1950, when India transitioned into a republic.
Constitutional Spirit and Democratic Duties Emphasized
In his address, Mahesh Gaste stressed that respecting and protecting the spirit of the Constitution is a fundamental duty for every Indian citizen. He described the Constitution as the world's largest written document, a beacon that guarantees equality, freedom, fraternity, and justice for all. The event also featured speeches by MLA and Karnataka Slum Development Board chairman Prasad Abbayya and MLA Mahesh Tenginakai, who echoed these sentiments, reinforcing the importance of civic engagement.
The celebrations included a parade and cultural programmes, adding a festive atmosphere to the occasion. Additionally, prizes and scholarships were distributed to meritorious students, recognizing academic excellence and encouraging future contributions to the nation.
Women Empowerment Takes Center Stage at Minister's Office
In a distinctive celebration at the Hubballi office of Union Food and Civil Supplies Minister Pralhad Joshi, the national flag was unfurled by Swachh Vahini woman driver Kallavva Gali, a 57-year-old from Belur village. This symbolic act aimed to honor women's contributions, particularly in cleanliness initiatives, and was described as a powerful gesture of women's empowerment.
The event saw enthusiastic participation, with more than 130 women drivers being felicitated for their efforts. Pralhad Joshi praised these drivers, noting that they have emerged as "Swachhta Ambassadors" in rural areas by promoting cleanliness and enhancing the quality of life in both villages and cities. The presence of MLA Mahesh Tenginakai, Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation mayor Jyoti Patil, former mayor Veena Baradwad, BJP leaders, corporators, staff, and party workers underscored the community-wide support for this initiative.
Digital Governance and Public Service Highlighted at Taluk Events
At the Hubballi Taluk administration building, rural tahsildar JB Majjagi unfurled the flag during the Republic Day celebrations. He highlighted the Karnataka government's successful implementation of e-offices in all taluk offices across the state this year, marking a significant step towards digital governance.
Majjagi also emphasized the land security scheme, which has streamlined the process for citizens to obtain documents easily and without delays. He added that the government aims to move towards a paperless administration, enhancing efficiency and transparency. The event was attended by Navalgund MLA NH Konaradd and other dignitaries.
Meanwhile, at the taluk panchayat, executive officer Ramachandra Hosamani urged officials to take proactive steps in providing excellent public service. Speaking after the flag-unfurling ceremony, he called for efforts to instil economic and social confidence among the public, emphasizing the need for a strong sense of responsibility and a focus on delivering efficient, people-centric services.
These celebrations across Hubballi not only honored India's republican heritage but also showcased ongoing efforts in women's empowerment, digital transformation, and public service improvement, reflecting a community committed to progress and unity.
