Himachal CM Sukhu Urges MLAs to Back 'Chitta-Free Himachal' Campaign
In a significant move to combat drug abuse, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday called on legislators to actively support the state government's 'Chitta-Free Himachal' campaign. Emphasizing the need for collective efforts, Sukhu highlighted that making the initiative a success requires unified action from all stakeholders.
Legislative Priorities Meeting Focuses on Development
Addressing MLAs from Shimla and Kangra districts during the second and final session of a two-day legislative priorities meeting, Sukhu urged the legislators to submit their development priorities in the prescribed format to the planning department promptly. This step is crucial to ensure their inclusion in the upcoming budget, facilitating targeted and efficient allocation of resources.
Officers were directed to address issues raised by the MLAs on a priority basis, ensuring that local concerns are swiftly resolved to enhance governance and public service delivery.
Key Focus Areas for State Development
Highlighting the government's key focus areas, Sukhu stated that emphasis is being placed on health, education, rural economy, tourism, energy, food processing, and data storage. He noted that several path-breaking measures have been taken to strengthen the rural economy.
Notably, Himachal Pradesh has become the first state to offer the highest minimum support prices for milk, and naturally grown wheat, barley, maize, and turmeric. This initiative aims to boost farmer incomes and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
Achievements and Constituency-Specific Projects
Sukhu also detailed the state government's achievements in education, industrial development, and other sectors, underscoring progress in infrastructure and social welfare. During the meeting, MLAs from Shimla and Kangra presented priority projects specific to their constituencies, reflecting local needs and aspirations.
The session was attended by key officials, including:
- Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar
- Ayush Minister Yadvinder Goma
- Chairman of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, R S Bali
- Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania
- Senior government officials
This collaborative approach aims to align state-level policies with grassroots requirements, fostering holistic development across Himachal Pradesh.
