The Haryana government has introduced a new facility on the Family ID (Parivar Pehchan Patra - PPP) portal, enabling residents to register grievances related to incorrect or mismatched electricity connection details. This initiative aims to resolve discrepancies between Family ID data and records maintained by power utilities UHBVN and DHBVN, which have previously caused hurdles in accessing government services and welfare schemes.
Addressing Long-Standing Issues
PPP state coordinator Dr Satish Khola stated that mismatches between Family ID data and electricity department records have been a recurring concern, leading to errors in beneficiary identification and delays in service delivery. The new streamlined grievance redressal mechanism directly on the portal reflects a broader push toward digital governance and accuracy of public records.
How the Facility Works
Citizens can log in to the Family ID Portal and submit a grievance by accessing the newly added electricity correction option. They are required to provide the correct electricity connection number and upload supporting documents to validate their claim. Once submitted, the system automatically compares the information with data from UHBVN or DHBVN.
Multi-Level Verification Process
The grievance process ensures transparency and accountability. If discrepancies are identified, the case is electronically forwarded to the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the concerned district. The ADC assigns verification to field officials, including Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and Executive Engineer (XEN). These officials conduct on-ground verification and submit a detailed report through the system. Based on the report, the ADC can approve or reject the request. Upon approval, a new electricity connection is mapped with the Family ID.
Benefits for Citizens
One major advantage is the significant reduction in the need for multiple visits to government offices. Previously, correcting discrepancies involved a lengthy manual process requiring visits to both electricity department and district offices. Now, with a completely digital and trackable process, citizens can expect faster resolution and greater clarity on application status. Accurate data also plays a crucial role in determining eligibility for various schemes, ensuring eligible families receive benefits without delays or errors.
