Pune: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is set to inaugurate two significant civic projects on Sunday. The projects include overhead water storage tanks constructed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) in the Mohammadwadi-NIBM Road-Undri area and a PMC-run cancer hospital located in Baner.
Overhead Water Storage Tanks
The overhead tanks have been built as part of the equitable water supply project undertaken by the civic administration. The work on laying a 23-kilometer-long transmission line and the water distribution network in the Mohammadwadi area has recently been completed. Residents of the Mohammadwadi-NIBM Road area have been waiting for a reliable water supply for many years. On Friday, Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, along with MLC Yogesh Tilekar and other civic body leaders, inspected the overhead tanks. The administration has commenced trials for supplying water to the distribution network.
Cancer Hospital in Baner
Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale stated that the PMC-run cancer hospital in Baner, which Fadnavis will inaugurate on Sunday, is the first hospital in the country developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis to provide cancer treatment. Patients covered under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) will be eligible to receive treatment at this facility. The PMC has partnered with a private agency to operate the hospital. The PMC has provided Rs 14.85 crore as viability gap funding for the project, while the agency is responsible for all infrastructure and medical facilities. The hospital has a capacity of 150 beds and offers all advanced treatment facilities.
Land Acquisition for Katraj-Kondhwa Road
Mayor Manjusha Nagpure visited the Katraj-Kondhwa road project on Friday, where the administration has begun acquiring plots necessary for road widening. The PMC is handing over some land to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the Katraj chowk flyover project.
