In a bid to provide relief to traffic police personnel working under the scorching sun, the Delhi Traffic Police has introduced AC-equipped helmets and portable fans for its officials on duty. The innovative step comes as temperatures in the national capital continue to soar, making it challenging for officers to manage traffic for extended hours.
AC Helmets and Fans for Comfort
The newly introduced helmets are equipped with a small air conditioning unit that circulates cool air around the officer's head. Additionally, portable fans have been provided to ensure continuous airflow. These devices are designed to be lightweight and do not hinder the officers' mobility or performance.
Addressing Heat-Related Issues
Delhi experiences extreme heat during summer months, often crossing 40 degrees Celsius. Traffic police personnel are particularly vulnerable to heat strokes and dehydration due to prolonged exposure. The AC helmets and fans are part of a broader initiative to safeguard their health.
Senior officials stated that the equipment has been tested and found effective in reducing heat stress. They also mentioned that similar measures are being considered for other departments.
Positive Response from Personnel
Traffic police officials have welcomed the move, stating that it significantly improves their working conditions. “The AC helmet makes a huge difference. We can focus on our duties without worrying about the heat,” said a constable on duty at a busy intersection.
The Delhi Traffic Police plans to distribute these helmets and fans to all personnel deployed in high-traffic areas. The initiative is expected to be expanded across the city in the coming weeks.
