Delhi LG Clears Land Allotment for Major Public Projects
Delhi LG Streamlines Land Allotment for Public Projects

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has cleared 17 long-pending land allotment proposals, paving the way for major public projects including a burns ward at a city hospital, a waste-to-energy plant, and a sports complex. The decisions were taken during a meeting of the Delhi Land Pooling and Allotment Committee on July 8, 2026.

Key Projects Unlocked

The cleared allotments include land for a 50-bed burns ward at Safdarjung Hospital, a waste-to-energy plant in Okhla, and a sports complex in Dwarka. Additionally, land was allotted for a new police station in Rohini and a community centre in Burari. According to the LG's office, these projects have been pending for years due to bureaucratic delays.

Impact on Delhi's Infrastructure

The waste-to-energy plant in Okhla is expected to process 2,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste daily, generating 24 MW of electricity. The burns ward at Safdarjung Hospital will address a critical gap in healthcare infrastructure, as the hospital currently lacks a dedicated facility for burn victims. The Dwarka sports complex will include facilities for athletics, football, and swimming, benefiting over 10,000 residents.

"These land allotments have been stuck for years, causing delays in essential public projects. With this clearance, we are ensuring that Delhi's development is not hindered by red tape," said an official from the LG's office.

Streamlining Process

The LG has also directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and other agencies to expedite the remaining 23 pending land allotment cases within three months. The committee has adopted a new standard operating procedure (SOP) to ensure faster processing of future proposals. The SOP includes a timeline of 60 days for clearance of land allotments from the date of application.

This move is part of a broader effort to improve governance and infrastructure in the national capital. The LG's office has been actively monitoring the progress of stalled projects and pushing for their completion.
