Delhi Government Approves Funding for Three Key Metro Corridors in Phase IV
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has taken a decisive step to boost the capital's public transport network. The Delhi Government has officially released its share of funds for the remaining three corridors of Phase IV of the Delhi Metro Rail Transit System. This move signals a strong commitment to expanding metro connectivity across the city.
Major Investment in Urban Mobility
The three new metro corridors will stretch a combined 47.225 kilometres. The total estimated cost for these projects stands at approximately Rs 14,630.80 crore. The Delhi Government will contribute Rs 3,386.18 crore from its own resources. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that these corridors will deliver improved metro connectivity to various Delhi neighborhoods. They will also strengthen the overall public transport system significantly.

Detailed Breakdown of the Three Corridors
The first corridor will run from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block. It will cover a distance of 8.385 kilometres. This line will feature eight elevated metro stations. The second corridor will connect Inderlok to Indraprastha. It will span 12.377 kilometres. This line will have a total of ten stations. One station will be elevated, while nine will be built underground.
Officials have included the Lajpat Nagar-Saket G-Block and Inderlok-Indraprastha corridors under a combined financial framework. The combined project cost for these two lines is Rs 8,399.81 crore. The Delhi Government's share for this package is Rs 1,987.86 crore.
The third and longest corridor will extend from Rithala to Kundli. This line will stretch 26.463 kilometres. It will include 21 stations along its route. Significantly, this corridor will extend metro connectivity into the neighboring state of Haryana.
The total estimated cost for the Rithala-Kundli project is Rs 6,230.99 crore. The Delhi Government will provide Rs 1,398.32 crore as its share. Of the total project cost, Rs 5,685.22 crore will be spent within Delhi. The remaining Rs 545.77 crore will cover the section in Haryana.

These three corridors will provide superior travel facilities to residents in multiple parts of Delhi. The Lajpat Nagar-Saket G-Block corridor will pass through key areas including:

The extensive Rithala-Kundli corridor will pass through numerous areas including Rithala, various Rohini sectors, Barwala, Bawana Industrial Area, Bawana JJ Colony, Sanoth, New Sanoth, Bhorgarh village, Narela Anaj Mandi, Narela DDA Sports Complex, Narela, Narela Sector-5, Kundli, and Nathupur.
Project Timeline and Broader Impact
The tendering process for these corridors is currently underway. Basic work has already commenced on some sections. Authorities expect all three corridors to be completed within a four-year timeframe.
This construction will enhance connectivity across northern, central, and southern parts of Delhi. It will also improve links within the broader Delhi-NCR region.
