DDA Announces Major Urban Overhaul with 8-Point Roadmap
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has unveiled an ambitious 8-point development roadmap aimed at transforming the national capital's urban landscape. The plan emphasizes disaster resilience, water security, and road safety for all users, according to a DDA spokesperson.
Key Focus Areas of the Roadmap
The roadmap includes measures to improve quality of life in Delhi through infrastructure upgrades and sustainable practices. Among the eight points, disaster resilience is a priority, with the DDA planning to strengthen buildings and public spaces against earthquakes and floods. Water security will be addressed through rainwater harvesting and rejuvenation of water bodies. Road safety improvements include dedicated pedestrian paths, cycle tracks, and better traffic management.
Implementation and Impact
The DDA stated that the roadmap will be implemented over the next five years, with an estimated budget of ₹12,000 crore. The plan also includes green cover expansion and waste management systems. A senior DDA official said, “For good quality living, the emphasis will be on strengthening disaster resilience, ensuring water security, and making roads safer for all users.”
Public and Expert Reactions
Urban planners have welcomed the initiative, noting that Delhi faces challenges like air pollution, water scarcity, and traffic congestion. The roadmap aims to address these issues holistically. The DDA will consult residents and stakeholders before finalizing projects.
