The Chhattisgarh government has taken a significant leap toward transforming its revenue administration system by unveiling a comprehensive progress report and a detailed three-year roadmap focused on modernizing land records, implementing farmer-friendly digital initiatives, and enhancing disaster management capabilities.
Digital Infrastructure Expansion
During a press conference held on Wednesday, Revenue Secretary Reena Babasaheb Kangale revealed the extensive reach of the state's revenue network, which now encompasses 117 sub-divisions, 251 tehsils, 793 revenue inspector circles, and 5,828 patwari halkas. This massive infrastructure serves 20,551 villages and manages over 2.51 crore land parcels (khasras) across the state.
Officials confirmed that nearly the entire land record system has been computerized, marking a monumental achievement in administrative modernization. The digitization effort has successfully converted khatauni and land maps of 20,551 villages' khasras into digital format, along with maps from 19,692 villages. To support this digital transformation, modern record rooms have been completed in 155 tehsils to efficiently store and manage these crucial documents.
Streamlining Land Management Processes
The revenue department is introducing an innovative auto diversion system designed to significantly simplify land-use change procedures. This new system promises to process diversion cases within 15 days, dramatically reducing waiting times and bureaucratic hurdles for citizens.
Under the proposed "Digital Tehsil" initiative, the state plans to conduct future tehsil hearings and case disposals entirely online. This groundbreaking approach will eliminate the need for landholders to make repeated visits to tehsil offices or patwaris, saving time and resources. Landholders will also gain the convenience of receiving details about their Khasra entries directly on their mobile phones, bringing land record information to their fingertips.
Farmer-Centric Digital Initiatives
As part of the Central government's flagship AGRISTACK agri-tech project, Chhattisgarh has made substantial progress by verifying data of 26 lakh farmers and generating unique Farmer IDs for them. This digital identification system aims to streamline agricultural services and support mechanisms.
The state successfully conducted a Digital Crop Survey (DCS) for the Kharif 2025–26 season, covering 14,066 villages across 33 districts. The survey, which began on August 15, 2025, has now been completed, providing valuable data for agricultural planning and support.
To ensure farmers can easily access support and information related to these digital initiatives, the department has publicized a dedicated toll-free helpline: 1800-233-1030. This service aims to bridge the digital divide and provide necessary assistance to farmers navigating the new systems.
The comprehensive digital transformation represents Chhattisgarh's commitment to creating a fully digital, citizen-centric revenue administration that prioritizes efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for all stakeholders, particularly the farming community that forms the backbone of the state's economy.
