Chandigarh MC Final Appeal: Pay Property Tax by May 31 for Rebate

The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh issued a final appeal on Saturday, urging all residential and commercial property owners to deposit their property tax by May 31. This is the last date to avail a rebate under the current assessment period.

Rebate Details

According to the provisions, property owners can avail a 20 percent rebate on residential property tax and a 10 percent rebate on commercial property tax if the payment is made within the deadline.

Municipal Commissioner's Appeal

Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar urged taxpayers to use the online payment system or visit Sampark centres to clear their dues and benefit from the rebate. He emphasised that timely payment not only helps citizens save money but also supports the development and maintenance of civic infrastructure and public services.

Penalty for Defaulters

Officials warned that after the expiry of the rebate period, defaulters will attract a 25 percent penalty along with 12 percent interest, as per the rules. The MC has urged all property owners to utilise this final opportunity and deposit their dues by May 31 to avoid penalties.
