The central government has announced the organisation of a pan-India 'Fire Safety Week' scheduled to take place from May 4 to May 10. This initiative aims to enhance fire safety awareness and preparedness across the country.
Key Activities Planned
During the observance, all states and union territories will conduct a series of activities including awareness campaigns, mock drills, capacity-building exercises, and dissemination of fire safety protocols. These efforts are designed to educate the public and relevant authorities on preventing and responding to fire emergencies effectively.
Collaboration with States and UTs
The Ministry of Home Affairs is coordinating with state governments and union territory administrations to ensure uniform implementation of the week-long program. Local fire departments, disaster management authorities, and community organisations will play a crucial role in executing the planned events.
The initiative underscores the government's commitment to improving fire safety standards and reducing the risk of fire-related incidents. By engaging citizens through practical exercises and information campaigns, the authorities hope to foster a culture of safety and vigilance.
