The self-enumeration phase of the Census in Bihar concluded on May 1, with official data revealing that 48.50 lakh participants registered between April 17 and May 1. Of these, 46.82 lakh individuals successfully completed the self-enumeration process.
Door-to-Door Survey Phase Begins
The second phase, involving door-to-door surveys conducted by enumerators, commenced on May 2 and is scheduled to conclude on May 31. During this phase, enumerators will visit households to collect data on 33 specific points.
District-Wise Performance
The top-performing districts in the self-enumeration phase were led by Madhubani, which recorded 6.05 lakh completions. Vaishali followed with 5.86 lakh, and Darbhanga with 4.95 lakh. High-participation districts included Gopalganj (3.06 lakh), Patna (2.38 lakh), Bhojpur (2.09 lakh), Aurangabad (1.64 lakh), and Khagaria (1.63 lakh).
Moderate participation was observed in West Champaran (1.34 lakh), Katihar (1.20 lakh), Purnia (1.19 lakh), Jamui (1.13 lakh), Muzaffarpur (1.09 lakh), Siwan (1.07 lakh), Samastipur (1.03 lakh), and Rohtas (99,000).
Districts showing satisfactory progress included Gaya (89,000), Madhepura (82,000), Saran (74,000), Nalanda (71,000), Buxar and Nawada (70,000 each), Supaul (65,000), Sitamarhi (62,000), Bhagalpur (50,000), Saharsa (48,000), and Sheikhpura (48,000).
Lower participation was recorded in Sheohar (43,000), Kishanganj (42,000), Jehanabad (39,000), Banka and Begusarai (29,000 each), Kaimur (26,000), Arwal (18,000), Munger (18,000), and Lakhisarai (14,000).
Verification Process
Individuals who have already completed self-enumeration are required to provide their Self-Enumeration ID (SS-ID) to officials during the door-to-door phase. This will facilitate verification and streamline the data collection process.
