Banda Electricity Department Initiates Proactive Summer Maintenance Drive

In anticipation of the approaching summer season, the electricity department in Banda has proactively launched a comprehensive maintenance campaign month, scheduled to run from February 15 to March 14. This strategic initiative is designed to preemptively address potential power supply issues and ensure a reliable electricity flow for consumers during the peak summer months.

Ensuring Uninterrupted Power Supply

Chief Engineer (Distribution) of Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitaratan Nigam Ltd, Banda, Arvind Nayak, detailed the campaign's primary objective: to guarantee an uninterrupted and continuous power supply to all consumers throughout the upcoming summer season. By conducting maintenance work ahead of time, the department aims to mitigate the risk of disruptions caused by equipment failures during periods of high demand.

Extensive Infrastructure Targeted for Maintenance

The maintenance campaign encompasses a wide array of electrical infrastructure across all four distribution divisions under the Banda region. Specifically, the department has identified 107 electrical substations, 1,379 distribution transformers, and 353 lines for essential maintenance and repair work. Additionally, the plan includes checking 123 power transformers, 246 11-KV VCBs (Vacuum Circuit Breakers), and 343 0.4-KV lines, along with 139 protection-related works to enhance system reliability.

Accountability and Preventive Measures

Arvind Nayak emphasized that all selected maintenance tasks are scheduled to be completed during this dedicated month to prevent electricity supply disruptions resulting from transformer and line breakdowns in the summer. He stated, "After completion of the work, if any transformer gets damaged or the supply of any line is disrupted, responsibility would be fixed on the concerned area officer." This accountability measure underscores the department's commitment to effective execution and quality control.

Comprehensive Maintenance Activities

During the maintenance month, the electricity department will undertake a series of proactive measures to bolster the power infrastructure. These activities include:

  • Pruning and cleaning of tree branches near power lines to prevent interference and potential outages.
  • Replacement of damaged insulators to maintain electrical safety and efficiency.
  • Replenishment of oil shortages in transformers to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

By addressing these critical aspects, the campaign aims to fortify the electrical grid against summer-related stresses, thereby enhancing service reliability for consumers in Banda.
