Andhra Pradesh Transport Department Forges Strategic Partnership with Maruti Suzuki for Driving Test Automation

In a significant move toward modernizing the driving license testing infrastructure, the Andhra Pradesh transport department has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL). This collaboration focuses on the automation of four key driving test tracks located at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in Eluru, Ongole, Vizinagaram, and Anakapalli across the state.

Official Signing Ceremony at Velagapudi Secretariat

The MoU was officially signed on Tuesday at the secretariat complex in Velagapudi, marking a pivotal moment in the state's transportation sector. The signing ceremony was attended by key officials, including Transport Commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha and MSIL CSR Head Tarun Agarwal. The event was graced by the presence of Special Chief Secretary (Transport, Roads & Buildings) MT Krishna Babu, underscoring the importance of this initiative for Andhra Pradesh's governance and public service delivery.

Project Implementation Under CSR Framework

This project will be executed as part of Maruti Suzuki's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, highlighting the company's commitment to social welfare and technological advancement in India. The primary objectives of this automation drive are to:

  • Enhance the efficiency of the driving license testing process by reducing manual interventions and potential delays.
  • Increase transparency in evaluations, ensuring fair and unbiased assessments for all applicants.
  • Standardize testing procedures across different RTOs, promoting consistency and reliability in license issuance.

By leveraging advanced technology, the initiative aims to streamline operations and minimize human error, ultimately contributing to improved road safety standards in Andhra Pradesh. The automation of these test tracks is expected to set a benchmark for other states to follow, fostering a culture of innovation and safety in India's transportation ecosystem.

This partnership reflects a growing trend of public-private collaborations in India, where corporate entities like Maruti Suzuki play a crucial role in supporting government efforts to upgrade critical infrastructure. As the project rolls out, it is anticipated to benefit thousands of driving license applicants annually, making the process more accessible and trustworthy while aligning with broader national goals for road safety and digital transformation.
