West Bengal voters who are currently residing outside the state can now complete their electoral registration through newly activated online forms. The Election Commission of India has made the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration forms available digitally after resolving earlier technical issues that caused a brief delay.
How to Access Online SIR Forms
Eligible voters have two convenient methods to access the enumeration forms. The primary method involves visiting the official voters' portal on the Election Commission of India's website. Alternatively, citizens can use the ECINET mobile application, as confirmed by election officials.
Step-by-Step Guide to Complete Online Form
The process begins by selecting the 'Fill Enumeration form' option on the website. Users are then redirected to a login page that requires authentication details including their registered mobile number, email ID, or EPIC number.
After entering the necessary login information and the displayed captcha code, the system generates a one-time password (OTP) for verification. Once the OTP is successfully submitted, users proceed to the next stage where they must select West Bengal from a drop-down list of states.
Selecting West Bengal triggers an additional field where voters must input their EPIC number as it appears on their voter ID card. The system then automatically populates all relevant details including the elector's name and serial number.
Voters must carefully verify that all pre-filled information matches their official documents, particularly ensuring their name exactly matches their Aadhaar card details.
Addressing Discrepancies and Alternative Options
In cases where the automatically generated information doesn't match official documents, the platform provides the name and contact number of the responsible Booth Level Officer (BLO). Voters can directly contact their BLO for assistance with corrections or clarifications.
For those unable to access the online forms, traditional offline methods remain available. Voters can wait for their BLO to visit for in-person form completion or proactively schedule an appointment through the ECI website.
The appointment booking feature requires voters to enter their EPIC number and complete a captcha verification.
Critical Timeline for Electoral Roll Revision
The election commission has established a clear schedule for the Special Intensive Revision process. The house-to-house enumeration phase runs from November 4 to December 4, followed by the publication of draft electoral rolls on December 9.
The period for filing claims and objections extends from December 9 to January 8, with the final electoral roll publication scheduled for February 7.
This digital initiative significantly enhances accessibility for West Bengal voters residing outside the state, ensuring their participation in the democratic process while streamlining the enumeration procedure through technology-driven solutions.
