A functionary of the Viduthalai Siruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has approached the Coimbatore city police commissioner, seeking legal action against TVK founder Vijay for his election campaign remarks that allegedly influenced children.
Complaint Details
V Balakrishnan, the district organizer of the party's cadre wing from Ganapathy, filed a petition stating that during a campaign meeting in Chennai on April 21, Vijay urged children to persuade their parents to vote for him, comparing it to asking for chocolates. Balakrishnan claimed that after hearing the speech, his five-year-old son insisted that he vote for TVK, and when refused, the child cried and stopped eating.
Psychological Impact on Children
Balakrishnan argued that such remarks have a psychological impact on children and violate election rules. He emphasized that Vijay's statements negatively affected many children and constitute an offense under the Representation of the People Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Demand for Action
The petitioner has requested the removal of videos of the speech from social media platforms. He warned that if no action is taken, he would approach the court to seek justice.
