The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign for voter list updation in Prayagraj district is progressing at a significant pace, with officials reporting that a major portion of the work has been successfully digitized. As of the latest review, an impressive 83.85% of the total 46.92 lakh voter enumeration forms have been processed digitally.
Assembly-Wise Performance and Urban-Rural Divide
A detailed breakdown reveals a clear trend: rural assembly constituencies are significantly ahead of their urban counterparts in this digitization drive. Leading the district is the Koraon assembly segment, which has achieved a remarkable 97.43% digitization. It is closely followed by Bara (93.43%), Soraon (90.12%), Pratarppur (86.27%), Phaphamau (85.11%), and Meja (83.13%).
In contrast, the review highlighted that all three urban-based assembly segments are lagging. The Allahabad South assembly seat reported the lowest digitization work in the entire district, which comprises 12 constituencies in total.
Official Figures and Upcoming Deadlines
District election officials provided comprehensive data, stating that Prayagraj has a total of 46,92,860 enrolled voters. This includes 25,42,506 male voters, 21,49,884 female voters, and 470 transgender voters spread across the 12 constituencies.
With the Election Commission setting a strict deadline of December 11 for completing the SIR work, the process is in its final stages. The subsequent publication of the draft electoral roll is scheduled for December 16. The final, certified electoral roll will be published on February 14, 2026.
Ground-Level Efforts and Political Participation
Officials confirmed that through persistent motivation and field efforts, 100% digitization has been completed at 1,157 polling booths. By Friday afternoon, the digitization work for approximately 39,34,695 voters out of the total 46,92,860 was finished.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are actively engaged in door-to-door campaigns to verify the status of voters in categories such as absent, deceased, duplicate, or those who have relocated. A senior official outlined the manpower deployed, stating, "Apart from 4,713 BLOs, 484 supervisors and 84 other officials were deployed to review the SIR work." He added that special observers have been appointed for the Allahabad North, South, and West seats.
Major political parties are also contributing to the process. On Friday, the BJP, SP, and BSP collectively roped in 13,716 booth level agents to assist and monitor the SIR work, ensuring transparency and wider participation.
