The candidate, Prashant Thakur, who is running from Ward No. 122 in Powai, has taken the step of notarising his election promises. He has solemnly sworn to resolve and diligently address the majority of the pressing civic concerns facing Powai residents within the first three months of assuming office. This formal affidavit-style approach is aimed at building trust and accountability with voters.
Key Promises for Powai's Transformation
Thakur's manifesto, crafted after consultations with locals in areas like Hiranandani Gardens, outlines a clear and immediate action plan. The central pledges include:
- Ensuring pothole-free roads across the ward.
- Making footpaths completely free from encroachments.
- Substantially improving garbage management and overall cleanliness.
- Initiating the regular cleaning and conservation of the iconic Powai Lake.
- Ensuring humane management, dignity, and proper care for stray dogs and pets.
Beyond these, the manifesto also commits to resolving long-standing water supply and sewage problems on a sustainable basis. Furthermore, Thakur promises to work towards fostering a drug-free, safe, and secure environment for all Powai residents.

Prashant Thakur, who has been associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) until recently, is contesting as an independent. He expressed frustration with the slow pace of change, stating that many issues have immediate solutions that are often ignored.
"There are many issues that can be resolved in the immediate future. However, nobody gives it a thought," Thakur said. "I have pledged to fulfil all the things mentioned in my manifesto within 100 days and I have notarised my manifesto affidavit."
He provided an example of his pragmatic approach, suggesting that the chronic traffic problem in the area could be tackled by collaborating with students from IIT-Bombay to devise innovative solutions.
