Kanpur Trains BLOs for SIR 2026: Focus on Notice & Hearing Phase
Kanpur Holds Training for BLOs on SIR 2026 Voter List Revision

In a significant step towards preparing an accurate electoral roll, the district election office in Kanpur conducted a comprehensive training program on Saturday. The session was aimed at equipping Booth Level Officers (BLOs), supervisors, and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) for the upcoming notice and hearing phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026.

Key Officials and Participants Gather for Training

The training was held at the auditorium hall of CSJM University. All BLOs, supervisors, and AEROs from three key Assembly constituencies—212 Govind Nagar, 211 Kalyanpur, and 216 Kanpur Cantt—were present for the crucial briefing. Leading the instructions was Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) and Additional District Election Officer Vivek Chaturvedi.

Chaturvedi issued clear directives to ensure there is no deviation from the established procedures during the next stage of the intensive revision. He emphasized that any carelessness in the distribution of notices, the hearing process, or the scrutiny of records would be viewed seriously and would not be tolerated.

Deep Dive into Technical and Procedural Details

During the program, the Assistant Electoral Registration Officers provided in-depth information on various technical and procedural aspects essential for the smooth execution of the revision process.

A major focus was on using technology for accuracy. The process of correcting photographs in the draft voter list was demonstrated through the dedicated Booth Level Officer App. Furthermore, special attention was given to the procedure for handling voters in the 'no-mapping' category. This involves issuing notices to such voters, collecting the necessary documents from them, and efficiently uploading the information via the BLO app.

Inclusion of New Voters and EC Directives

Aligning with the directives of the Election Commission of India, the training also clarified the process for enrolling new voters. Officers were instructed on the correct procedure for accepting and processing Form-6 applications from young individuals who will turn 18 years old by the crucial qualifying date of January 1, 2026.

This proactive training underscores the administration's commitment to ensuring a robust and error-free electoral roll for the 2026 revision. By empowering ground-level officers with clear guidelines and technological tools, the district aims to enhance voter list accuracy and streamline the enrollment of new voters.
