Indore district has made significant strides in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of its electoral rolls, crossing the crucial 70% completion mark. The review of this massive digitisation drive was conducted in a high-level meeting chaired by Election Commission of India (ECI) Secretary, Vinod Kumar.
Rapid Progress and Rural Leadership
During the review at the collector's office in Indore on Monday, officials presented an encouraging picture. The district, which has a total of 28.67 lakh registered voters, has successfully digitised the information of over 20.13 lakh voters. This translates to more than 70% of the intensive revision work being completed ahead of schedule.
Interestingly, the rural Depalpur assembly constituency emerged as the frontrunner, setting a benchmark for the entire district. Depalpur has achieved an impressive nearly 100% digitisation of its voter lists, leading the tally among all constituencies in Indore.
ECI Secretary's Review and Confidence
ECI Secretary Vinod Kumar expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the work. He highlighted that the SIR campaign in Indore is progressing rapidly due to a combination of key factors:
- Complete transparency in the process.
- Strong team spirit among the officials involved.
- A robust quality work methodology.
- Effective and innovative use of technology.
Kumar expressed confidence that if the work continues at this current pace, Indore district will definitely achieve its set target within the stipulated deadline. He emphasised that the district's model could serve as an inspiration for other regions.
Grassroots Interaction and Knowledge Sharing
Going beyond just a review meeting, Secretary Vinod Kumar also held direct conversations with the booth-level officers (BLOs) and supervisors who are the backbone of this field operation. He recognised their efforts and stressed the importance of sharing best practices.
Kumar advocated for a collaborative approach, suggesting that successful innovations pioneered in one assembly constituency should be adopted in other areas. This cross-pollination of ideas and effective strategies, he noted, would make the overall voter list revision campaign more effective and efficient across the board.
The meeting underscored the Election Commission's focused drive to ensure clean, accurate, and updated electoral rolls through technological intervention and dedicated ground-level work.
