TVK Candidate Employs Holographic AI to Bring Vijay to Election Rallies

In an innovative move to bridge a campaign gap, a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate in Kumbakonam has turned to cutting-edge technology by deploying holographic AI to project a life-size, immersive image of party president Vijay at election rallies. This strategy aims to compensate for Vijay's absence from multiple events as the state assembly elections approach.

Addressing Campaign Challenges with Technology

With polling scheduled for April 23, and Vijay unable to attend several campaign programmes, candidates are exploring alternative methods to sustain voter engagement. Vinoth Ravi, 32, TVK's Thanjavur East district secretary who is contesting from Kumbakonam, has equipped his campaign vehicle with a holographic projection system. This technology, sourced from Kaamaa Technologies, costs Rs 50,000 per day and has been permitted by the Election Commission for use over four days.

Ravi expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "The Election Commission has permitted me to use this technology for four days. It makes me feel energised and confident, as if our 'Thalapathy' is right beside me, speaking directly to the people."

How the Holographic AI System Works

The system, mounted on the campaign vehicle, utilizes holographic projection technology based on the principle of 'persistence of vision'. It integrates:

  • A projection fan display
  • High-speed motors
  • A synchronised audio system powered by the vehicle's generator

This setup creates a realistic three-dimensional image of Vijay, from head to thighs, giving the impression that he is standing through the sunroof and addressing the gathering live. The hologram is synchronized with audio from his earlier speeches, and AI ensures perfect alignment with lip movements, gestures, and body language, making the crowd perceive it as a live address.

Karthik Mari Pichai, founder and CEO of Kaamaa Technologies, highlighted the significance of this initiative, describing it as a first in the state's electoral campaigns. "This is the first use of holographic AI technology in a Tamil Nadu election. It enables a leader to connect with people without being physically present, with high-definition visuals and synchronised audio creating an immersive experience," he explained.

Impact on the Election Campaign

Ravi expressed confidence that this innovation would strengthen his campaign in the final phase. "Thalapathy's presence next to me will take our campaign to the next level and help us secure a victory," he added. The use of such advanced technology not only enhances voter engagement but also sets a new precedent for political campaigning in the region.
